The books have just returned from the auditor and I can report that unlike the rest of the world, the P&C had a great year in 2012. At the end of 2012 we held a total of $57,158.72 in our bank accounts. In the course of the year we made a grand profit of $33,297.28.
Our biggest fundraisers were Cafe Cantata which raised $13,899.33, the uniform shop which raised $8864.54, and the newly introduced Annual Voluntary Contribution, whereby parents generously contributed a total of $8,500 to the P&C coffers.
For comparison, in 2011 we raised a total of $18,961.75 in the course of the year; $8,876.77 from Cafe Cantata, $6,831.83 from the uniform shop, and $3,456.50 from the now defunct trivia night.
You will notice that the profits for the Cafe were boosted by $5000 in the past year. This is due in large part to the introduction of the P&C sausage sizzles on Cafe Cantata days in the second half of the year.
With all that cooking, our old barbecue began to fall apart, so we decided to turn some of our profits to invest in a brand new catering quality barbecue, which should see the P&C through twenty more years of lucrative sausage sizzling.
We also bought $12,550 worth of musical instruments for the school. They came in the form of a bassoon and a trombone. We are hoping to buy a double bass in the very near future.
